About Us

A small club with a strong stamp collecting motivation

We meet twice a month in Playa del Rey. No dues, no dress code, no intimidating experts who'll make you feel out of place.

Whether you have a shoebox of inherited stamps with no idea what you have, or you have been collecting for decades with a specific want list — all are welcome here.

You will find: enjoyable conversation, genuine enthusiasm, and an auction that makes it too easy to come home with more stamps than you planned.

What to Expect

At every meeting

1 Browse stamps for the auction.
2 Enjoy a free refreshment.
3 Sign your name to the auction sheet and pick a number to bid with.
4 New participants are introduced to the group.
5 The Dutch auction begins.
6 At the end of the auction we settle up — check or cash.
7 Every auction item can be returned at any later date for a full refund.

What a Dutch auction is in the stamp world

A Dutch auction for stamps is a descending‑price sale. Instead of bidding upward, the seller:

  1. Sets a starting price (usually a discounted value or an estimate).
  2. Sets price‑drop steps (for example: $10 → $8 → $6 → $5 → $3).
  3. Sets time intervals for each drop is very fast.
  4. The first buyer to raise their number at any price wins the lot.
  5. If 2 or more bidders bid at the start then the price goes up until one bidder is left.
  6. If two bidders go up at the same time into the auction a coin is flipped to establish a winner.

This format rewards buyers who act quickly but still allows cautious bidders to wait for a better deal—at the risk of losing the item.
